Today and Journal¶
Today: your daily check-in¶
The six initial areas¶
A fresh General Audience installation starts with:
- Well-being – mood, energy, strain and physical well-being,
- Sleep – duration, how rested you feel and sleep continuity,
- Everyday life & structure – managing the day, rough planning, the most important task and clarity about next steps,
- Relationships – connection, honest exchange and healthy closeness or boundaries,
- Body & nourishment – physical needs, balanced meals and drinking enough,
- Self-care & reflection – self-care, breaks and short positive or difficult reflections.
The initial configuration contains 21 active fields. Sections normally start collapsed, every field may be skipped and all initial values remain unknown until you enter something.
Completing sections and fields¶
The Today page is the main input screen. Open a section and enter only what you want to record.
- Empty fields remain unknown.
- A selected No or a real numeric value of
0is stored. - Free-text fields are suitable for short notes and are not included in scoring automatically.
- Sections can be hidden on selected weekdays.
- Custom sections and fields can be added or adjusted in Settings.
Changes are saved automatically, with a short debounce and in a fixed sequence. After a save failure, your current input remains visible and the save status shows the error.
Backfilling earlier days¶
In addition to today, you can enter data for up to the previous three calendar days. Select the required date in the day navigation. Backfilled values belong to the selected day and are not copied to today.
Recording repeatable events¶
Things that can happen several times on the same day are stored as individual events.
| Event | Typical details |
|---|---|
| social contact | person or group, connection and optional note |
| exercise | activity, duration, exertion and feeling afterwards |
| self-care | activity, duration, relaxation, clarity and feeling afterwards |
| meal | meal or dish, amount, balance and feeling afterwards |
| trigger | possible cue, change area and optional note |
| urge | intensity, change area, response and outcome |
Reusable entries such as people, sports, meals or triggers are suggested as catalog items. Renaming one later does not retroactively change older events.

Journal: viewing days in context¶
The Journal shows what was stored on a selected day. It combines daily values, notes and repeatable events in a chronological view.
Calendar and daily details¶
Select a day in the calendar to open its details. These can include check-in values, social contacts, exercise, self-care, meals, triggers and urge events. An empty day means that nothing was stored for that date; it is not scored as a bad day.
Search¶
Journal search can find existing days by date, person, activity or text. Search works only on your local history; there is no external search index.
Personal outliers¶
For suitable metrics, Steady can mark unusually positive or negative days compared with your own history. This requires enough comparison data and a known goal direction. The marker describes a deviation in your data; it is not a diagnosis or a comparison with other people.
